Trail Overview

Enjoy this relatively quiet trail that starts by crossing washes and travels through a canyon. You will then begin a steep climb up to a ridge with great views of South Shale Ridge and Twin Peaks. Continue on to the saddle, and then take in the beautiful views of Grand Junction and Battlement Mesa. Avoid eroded sections of the trail by taking the washes. Open all year, except for weather closures.

Difficulty

Difficult. Steep, rocky and narrow in places, but no major obstacles. Cross one deep, rocky wash that can increase in difficulty after a rainstorm. One very tippy spot on a hillside. Not for oversized vehicles.
