Trail Overview

This trail is a long, relatively narrow gravel route that varies in condition along its length. Some sections are smooth and easy to travel, while potholes and corrugations mark others. The trail crosses over a railway line before continuing into forested terrain, where it winds through stands of mature pine and mixed woodland. Several clearings along the route could serve as dispersed campsites, though they are informal and unmarked. Logging activity in the area is evident, so it's essential to be cautious and prepared for the possibility of encountering fast-moving logging trucks. Drainage trenches run along both sides of the trail for much of its length. These are often obscured by vegetation, making it difficult to safely pull aside to let vehicles pass. Toward the end of the trail, the route leads to a closed bridge and an area showing signs of severe fire damage. There are no formal campsites or public facilities along this trail. Dispersed camping may be permitted within the Superior National Forest, provided it is outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Be sure to check with local authorities for up-to-date camping regulations. Amenities such as restrooms, potable water, and trash disposal are not available, and cell service may be unreliable or completely absent.
