Trail Overview
Snow Valley Road is a scenic, historic rural route running through the wooded valley west of Roseisle, Manitoba. This gravel backroad partially follows the path of an early 1900s rail line built by the Canadian Northern Railway to service a cement plant deep in the valley. Today, it offers a quiet adventure with rolling terrain, winding creekside sections, and one low-level crossing over Roseisle Creek that can submerge after rain or during spring runoff (see Google street view). Respect private property signs and the active farmyard. Along the route, history buffs will appreciate views of the Leary Brickworks ruins on the south side of the road. Once a thriving brick factory producing thousands of bricks daily in the early 1900s, the site was abandoned, with its original chimney and kiln still standing/crumbling. It sits on private property and is in an advanced state of structural decay. Because of unsafe conditions and landowner restrictions, the site is strictly off-limits to the public. No trespassing. This mellow, scenic off-road route is ideal for history-minded explorers, casual drivers, and anyone looking to experience Manitoba's hidden valleys and forgotten industrial past.
