Trail Overview
This low-maintenance gravel dry-weather road route through Manitoba's Pembina Valley Wildlife Management Area offers a peaceful, scenic drive through one of southern Manitoba's picturesque natural landscapes. The road meanders through a mix of open prairie, dense aspen bluffs, and winding valley terrain, with occasional views of the Pembina River cutting through the valley floor. Wildlife is abundant -- watch for white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and other wildlife. The Pembina Valley Wildlife Management Area was established in the mid-20th century as part of Manitoba's conservation initiative to protect critical wildlife habitat and preserve the unique ecology of the Pembina Valley. The area remains an important refuge for native plant and animal species. The gravel road is typically in good condition and suitable for most vehicles, though it can be loose or muddy in sections after rain.
