Trail Overview
The Powder Horn Spur is an easy, out-and-back gravel road branching off the main Powder Horn route. Suitable for most vehicles, the road features minimal elevation change and generally maintains a single-lane width, with several widened pull-outs available for parking or passing. As you drive, the route transitions between stretches of mature forest and open clear-cuts, offering a mix of shade, sunlight, and changing scenery. During the winter months, small seasonal waterfalls appear along the roadside, creating a scenic and quiet drive through the hills. Near the end of the spur, the forest opens to a broad territorial viewpoint overlooking the Kalama River valley--an excellent spot to stop, take in the panorama, and turn around before heading back.
