About Nicholson Ford OHV Park

With 120 acres near Marshalltown, Iowa, this off-road park is just 56 miles northeast of Des Moines. Open to dirt bike, ATV, and SxS machines, Nicholson Ford OHV includes 20 miles of singletrack and wooded trails that snake through the Iowa River floodplain. Designed for adventurous newcomers and seasoned riders alike, there’s no fee to ride here, but machines must have a valid Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) sticker.

A day-use-only park with no onsite camping, visitors are greeted by a large, flat staging area with toilet facilities that make for a convenient basecamp. Camping is available at nearby Union Grove State Park or Tama County OHV Park, both less than 20 miles away. Nicholson Ford OHV is open year-round within an hour’s drive from Iowa’s major cities and is only three hours from Omaha, Nebraska, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
