How To Save Offline Maps

On Desktop

Please Note: Offline Maps don’t download to your computer, but you can configure Offline Maps on your desktop to download on your mobile device.

  1. Login to your account on webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/login.
  2. Click “Offline Maps” on the left-hand side.
  3. Select “New Offline Map.”
  4. Name your map, write a note, choose a map resolution detail, and orient the red square to where you want to off-road.
  5. Click “Save.”
  6. Open the App on your mobile device, select the “Offline Maps” tab, and click the icon next to this new map to save it to use when you’re outside of cell coverage.

In App

  1. Open the onX Offroad App on your mobile device.
  2. Tap“Offline Maps” in the bottom toolbar.
  3. Choose “New Map.”
  4. Name your map, choose the map resolution detail, move the map box to the area you plan to go. 
  5. Select “Save.”
  6. Wait for your map to download—you should get a notification when it’s all set. 
  7. Test your saved maps before you head out by tapping Offline Maps in the bottom toolbar and selecting“Go Offline.”

How do I download Offline Maps in onX Offroad?

Open the onX Offroad app on your mobile device, tap “Offline Maps” in the bottom toolbar, and choose “New Map.” Name your map, select a resolution, move the map box to your target area, and tap “Save” to download it to your device.

Can I use onX Offroad without cell service?

Yes, once you’ve downloaded Offline Maps to your device, you can access full trail data, land boundaries, and all map layers without any cell coverage.

Does GPS tracking work offline in onX Offroad?

Yes, your phone’s internal GPS still works offline, so you can follow the blue dot on your Offline Map and track your location even when you’re completely out of service.

Can I add Waypoints and record tracks while offline?

You can drop unlimited Waypoints and record trip stats with Go and Track while outside cell coverage. Once you’re back in service, all your customizations automatically sync across your devices.

Can I configure Offline Maps on my desktop?

You can set up Offline Maps through the onX Offroad web map, but the maps themselves download to your mobile device, not your computer. After saving a map on desktop, open the app and download it from the Offline Maps tab.

How do I test my Offline Maps before heading out?

Tap “Offline Maps” in the bottom toolbar and select “Go Offline” to simulate offline mode, which stops the app from using cell service for maps so you can confirm everything is ready before your trip.
