Located five miles north of Gilmer, Texas, Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area (BMRA) is a 1,850-acre off-road park catering to dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, and full-size 4×4 vehicles. With over 200 miles of trails—including 27 miles of singletrack for dirt bikes and a 16-mile ADV trail—BMRA has something for every skill level. From tight wooded trails to relaxed drives through rolling pine-covered hills, this well-marked and well-maintained facility is just 120 miles east of Dallas, 225 miles from Houston, and only 80 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana, making it easily accessible from multiple nearby metropolitan areas.

BMRA is not just for off-road enthusiasts. It’s also a perfect destination for families. On-site amenities include full restroom and shower facilities, six rental cabins, five bunkhouses, and an RV campground with 18 campsites capable of accommodating nearly any rig. Off-roaders consistently praise the park’s variety of trails and clear signage. Events throughout the year, such as the “Jeep Versus SxS Showdown,” bring an extra level of interest and excitement to this popular East Texas off-road destination, considered by many to be one of the top OHV Parks in the South-Central region.
