Trail Overview
This is a narrow dirt road that winds tightly through a dense forest with some obstacles. The largest consideration is vehicle width, as some trees are spaced narrowly enough that a Jeep Wrangler fits but a full-size truck may not. The trail is fairly flat, one-lane with places to meet, and crosses two creeks on wooden bridges. The bridge over the South Fork of Manastash Creek is in very poor shape and sinks as you drive over it. This is another reason a full-size vehicle is a bad idea. Near this area, old tank tracks have been used to shore up the road surface, though enough erosion has happened that they themselves become a short obstacle. The road connects Quartz Mountain Road and the Manastash Trail.
