Trail Overview
Starting from the south end of the trail on Argyle Rd, the trail begins in a lightly treed pine forest and follows a natural dirt and limestone path that is mostly packed and single-car width wide. The route includes several sections of semi-loose rocky hill climbs, with small rocks 3-4 inches in diameter. These climbs are short and at a mild incline, so though they may pose a slight challenge for motorcycles, 4WD vehicles should have no issue. Midway, the trail winds through scenic canyons with exposed rock walls on either side, culminating in an overlook that offers panoramic views of the forest and the plains of Wind Cave NP on clear days. The trail concludes by crossing through an old burn scar with grassy hills and downed trees, providing unobstructed vistas of the surrounding hills before exiting onto Highway 89. There are several spur trails along the route, some with rougher terrain. The trail is usually quiet, offering a secluded experience even during peak season. Cell service is limited throughout the forested and canyon sections of the trail, but some signal can be picked up on the hilltops.

Difficulty
The trail is relatively easy, with a few short, semi-loose gravel hill climbs with mild incline. Most of the path is a wide single-car width packed dirt with some interspersed gravel sections, suitable for all types of off-road vehicles. Little to no rutting through most of the trail, some shallow ruts of 3-6 inches were found on inclines. The trail could get muddy in sections after heavy rain.
