Trail Overview

A spur off Bell Camp Road, this old logging road sees some use in the first half-mile from an active logging site, so if you're traveling on a weekday, be sure to bring a CB radio. Beyond that point, the road sees very little traffic, aside from the occasional ground squirrel. Make it all the way to the north end of the trail and you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of Salmonberry Canyon. Plenty of spurs to explore, and landings for campsites.

Difficulty

Airing down is a must; the road is ungraded and rocky from the quarry rock used for its construction. Bring a handsaw as the trail is commonly blocked by a downed tree or five. Remember to Tread Lightly.

History

Not 500 feet from the trail is the Big Baldwin Trestle; hiking may be possible, but would require rope and rappelling experience.
