Trail Overview

North Loop trail is one of the networks of trails in the area called Glade Nor h. It is an easy drive with beautiful views of northwest New Mexico's high dese t. There are also stunning views of the San Juan Mountains of southern Colora. There are also numerous rock formations and deep canyon vies. This drive is primarily a hard-packed dirt road with sandy areas and dry wash crossing s. There are a few steep sections but smooth and grippy, so they are still very easy. While driving this in a small car is not recommended, SUVs and pickups will have no proble s. Four-wheel drive is not necessary for this scenic drive.

Access Description

From US 550 near mm 171, turn west onto County Road 2300. Travel west just over 3 tenths of a mile, and there is a nice staging area on the south side of the road. From US 550 travel 2.1 miles take the "Y" to the right and you are at the beginning of the trail/road.
