Trail Overview

This trail is almost 5 miles of easy two-track through a mix of washes and small ridgelines. It starts at an oil well, going across the high desert terrain on a hardpacked dirt trail on the top of small rolling dirt hills. It winds between big juniper trees, the trail being smooth and easy. There are several signs warning of upcoming blind road intersections, plus a gate you must open and close. There is one section that has been completely washed out where you are supposed to climb out of the wash, that you want to watch out for, but there is a bypass around the washout. It crosses the road and there is a trail sign indicating that the next segment is black diamond, but the trail stays very similar to the first part and is not difficult. The ground is a bit more chopped up and uneven, but it stays easy. Watch out for several more road crossings, and sharp corners. The trail gets up on some small ridgeline again, then goes into a wash and follows the wash for a long section. It's sandy and between big juniper trees. After 4.7 miles, you can turn onto another segment of ATV trail that turns southwest out of the wash at a trail sign.

Access Description

The Glade Run Recreation Area is a high desert playground full of extreme rock crawling trails, sandy washes and desert ridgelines. The southern 3,800 acres are an Open OHV Area, while the northern three quarters of the rec area are limited to designated routes, which includes unvegetated wash bottoms that are wider than the widest part of your vehicle. The main staging area is at the intersection of Glade Road and Pinyon Hills Blvd. The BLM has official ratings for the 4x4 rock crawling trails, but conditions and difficulty ratings are constantly changing in the desert.
