Trail Overview

The Bunkerville Choo Choo trail runs along the Virgin Mountain foothills. As you travel along the washes and mountain ridges, be on the lookout for cattle, as this is free range land. Along the way you will pass the remains of the Key West Mine and the Great Eastern Mine. You will also pass through a narrow canyon called the Seeps. Don't forget to stop and see Keyhole Rock, a natural arch in the granite rock. Finally, the trails namesake is a rail car that was hauled up into the hills to serve as a water tender for grazing cattle.

Holy scenery Batman! This might be one of the most scenic trails I have ever been on. There is something for everyone here. Of course, the time of year made a difference, with the wildflowers starting to bloom. The colors in the landscape here are different than in other nearby areas, and the structure of the mountains along the trail leaves you in awe! The little rock climb out of the canyon is fun. It is pretty simple, and a stock Jeep on 33"+ can easily make it up and over. There is one "pumpkin chunker" rock in the middle of it to be wary of, although it is easy to get around. We saw several cattle, tons of quail, several hawks, and even a few buzzards. What a super fun day!

On average the trail itself isn’t bad, yet there are a few runs that are filled with loose gravel which on two wheels, is an easy crash. Around those climbs it’s a decently casual ride.

Been through here a few times. Pretty normal. Little dusty, and of course rocky. Seen a few stock rangers on 28 inch tires that did just fine.
