The trail winds through dense forest and sees regular use, so drivers should be cautious of oncoming or fast-moving vehicles, as well as dusty conditions during dry weather. Several side trails branch off along the way--most are broad and maintained, while a few are narrower and better suited for ATVs or side-by-sides. Partway along the route, there is a rustic campground that includes fire rings, picnic tables, and a basic toilet, offering a simple but convenient stop for those traveling through. A small lake can also be found along the trail, adding to the area's natural appeal. While this is a scenic and accessible route, amenities are limited, and cell phone service may be unreliable or unavailable depending on location.

History

The Franciscan Brothers of Peace, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, are a Catholic religious community founded in 1982 in the Franciscan tradition. Their mission is to serve the most vulnerable by providing food, shelter, and support to the homeless, refugees, survivors of torture, and women in crisis pregnancies, while also advocating for the dignity of all human life. The Brothers live a life of prayer and fraternity, balancing contemplation with active ministries such as running a food shelf, offering spiritual retreats, and supporting pro-life outreach.
