Trail Overview
Markham Road leads into Colvin Forest Road and offers a quiet, lightly traveled route through the forest. The trail is narrow and overgrown in places, with occasional bumps and a few wet spots, but there is no significant mud to contend with under normal conditions. As you continue, the trail splits into a Y-shape, with each arm ending in a loop that may be suitable for dispersed camping. One of the loops has an established fire ring, although both areas, unfortunately, have some dumped household waste. A few smaller trails branch off into the woods, but they are heavily overgrown and better suited for compact vehicles or hikers on foot. Some sections off the main trail could be used for dispersed camping, especially in July when wildflowers are in bloom, though clearing space for tents may be necessary. A small lake lies between the two arms of the Y, but it is not accessible to larger vehicles. The area is used occasionally, possibly by hunters.
