Cold Mountain, FSR 295, is a seasonally closed in-and-out forest service road in the Rich Mountain Wilderness. It serves primarily as access for hunters but does afford many nice primitive campsites along the road. Current 2024 MVUM maps list the open dates of 8/13- 6/1. Please report any dumpsites to the Blue Ridge Ranger District at 706 745-6928

Difficulty

The road is typical of most forest service roads of the area. This is a smooth gravel road with occasional potholes that can hold water. Any vehicle should do just fine on Cold Mountain.
