Trail Overview

This 3.5-mile long single track near Fraser, Colorado, is scenic and fun, with some rocky sections, and a couple of wooden mountain bike features to play on. From the west entrance, it winds up the mountainside, switchbacking up gradual hairpin turns. The trail is smooth and flowy, with not many rocks, but does gain a bit of elevation, 500 ft, as it goes through the series of hairpins. The trail is lined with lodgepole pines and big boulders on the edge that you don't want to smack a foot on. It crosses a couple of roads, and levels out its climb, as it heads northeast through the forest between the pine trees. The trail remains pretty smooth and rock-free, as it does some more tight turns on the top of the mountain. There are a couple of big embedded boulders at the top of the trail, that you have to ride over, but they are still easy and not too tall, or they can be ridden around. After 1.5 miles, the trail starts descending down through the pines with more tight turns and gradual hairpin turns. Near the end, it comes up to a couple of rockier spots that are the hardest part of the trail. There are bigger embedded rocks in the trail you have to ride over. They are still easy as they aren't tall ledges, but these spots are rockier than the rest of the trail. There are a couple of optional wooden features on the trail like a narrow balance beam, and an elevated bridge, that are fun to practice some balance. This trail is open 6/16 - 11/14.

Difficulty

The trail is very similar throughout the 3.5 miles. Most of it is pretty easy, with gradual switchbacks. It becomes intermediate difficulty due to a couple of rocky sections with bigger embedded boulders that add some difficulty. It is still pretty easy though, and should still be manageable for most riders.
