Trail Overview
Roost is an easy trail in the Tenderfoot Mountain Trail System. The west side of Roost starts at the intersection with Tenderfoot Mountain Trail, and zig zags across the mountain until it intersects with Lucky, then zig zags up to another section of Tenderfoot Mountain Trail. It's a fast and flowy trail through tall skinny pine trees, with big sweeping switchbacks that are gradual and smooth. It has small little climbs, but because it zig zags so much it's not very steep. There are sometimes small loose pieces of rock in the trail, but no big rocks. It does some shelfy narrow side-hilling, but on a very gradual slope, so it remains easy. The trail stays in the trees almost the whole time, so it has great shade for the hot summer days. You can see Lake Dillon from parts of the trail, too. From the intersection with Lucky, it keeps climbing up, and there are a couple of logs down over the trail that will have to be ridden over. It's likely that these will get cut as it's a really popular area, and this was the only log in the whole trail system. It keeps switchbacking up through gradual smooth turns until it ends on Tenderfoot Mountain Trail. This trail is open 6/21 - 10/9.

Difficulty
The whole trail is a series of gradual smooth switchbacks as it climbs up the mountain. The trail is very easy, but there was one log down near the east end that made it slightly harder.
