Trail Overview

Eagle Rock Road is a loop off the more popular Observatory Rock Road out of the Indian Mountain neighborhood and former Indian Mountain Ski Area. The road is easy with a few minor rocky areas. It goes through gently rolling terrain around rock formations and has excellent views of the Mosquito Range to the west and the Kenosha Mountains, Continental Divide, and Mount Evans to the north across US 285. You will also have views of Observatory Rock, which is closed to all human access for wildlife protection. You can make this a loop by traveling all the way around the trail, or do half the route and exit on Observatory Rock Road FR148. At the southwest corner of the route, you can exit into a subdivision, and County Road 15 will take you back north to Highway 285 at Como or south to Highway 24 near Hartsel.
