Trail Overview

Capitol creek road is a moderate trail that offers access to many trailheads for hiking, including Capitol Creek trail and Hell Roaring Trail. As a result, this area can get heavily trafficked as backpackers, horses, hikers, and peak baggers use this road to access these areas. This trail will give you access to the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness and provides exceptional fall foliage.

Access Description

From Glenwood Springs, head Southeast on Colorado 82 for 26 miles and turn right on Snowmass Creek Road. Drive for 1.6 miles to and turn right on Capitol Creek Road. Continue until you see the horse trailer parking where the road begins to narrow.
