Trail Overview

This is the south connector section from the town of Chloride to the Arizona Peace Trail system. This 8-mile point-to-point, two-track trail offers a little bit of everything as it parallels Highway 93--ruts, sand, rocky patches, short steep climbs, washes, etc. Throughout the trail, vegetation has grown in, making some spots more narrow than others. Full-size rigs wouldn't be recommended for this trail for that reason. Regardless, any vehicle (even SXS) will brush the vegetation. Expect to come across some erosion ruts that will flex suspension from time to time. Washes could become impassable in flash flood conditions, so avoid this trail in wet/rainy conditions. There are many offshoot trails to explore, some of which connect back to main roads. Cell coverage is found throughout. The trail can be driven in a high-clearance vehicle in 2WD (4x4 not required).

History

The Arizona Peace Trail is a nearly 700-mile off-highway vehicle trail loop system in Mohave, La Paz, and Yuma counties in western Arizona. The AZPT was first initiated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) in July 2013. It is one of the longest signed and mapped OHV trail systems in the United States.
