Trail Overview
Parker Montezuma is a narrow single-track trail that serves as a shortcut from Parker Canyon Trail to Montezuma Pass, winding through open grasslands along the way. The route eventually connects with Parker Canyon Road, which leads to the lake and its nearby campground. The trail has a rugged and remote feel, reminiscent of a scene from the game Far Cry. Its terrain is often off-camber and strewn with small rocks, adding to the challenge of making for a slow drive. Several spurs branch off along the route, though they lead to private land and are not open for access. Despite its rough conditions, the trail provides a scenic path through the backcountry. The trail lacks amenities such as established dispersed camping, trash disposal, and water supply, and there is limited cell service.
