Trail Overview

Cresta de Cresota !Vaya! or Cresote Ridge Whoops is a 5-mile off-road adventure that delivers a fast-paced challenge through deep sand, tight terrain, and an endless rhythm of whoops -- some of which are surprisingly steep and demand throttle control and suspension travel. This route winds through a soft, sandy landscape dotted with iconic Baja cacti and creosote trees, creating a classic desert backdrop. The trail follows a section of the famed Baja 250 race course, tracing the path between Virtual Check Points 22 and 27. Elevation gradually increases from 381 to 794 feet, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges as you crest rises along the route. The race-worn terrain and natural desert beauty make this trail a thrilling mix of technical driving and scenic exploration.

Difficulty

The trail's primary challenge comes from the relentless series of whoops and soft sand. While there are no extreme rock obstacles, drivers will need to manage speed, suspension, and traction carefully. The whoops can be taxing on underprepared vehicles and drivers, especially the steeper sections where proper momentum is essential. High-clearance 4WD is strongly recommended, along with aired-down tires to handle the sand. This trail is suitable for intermediate drivers with off-road experience, but could be difficult for stock vehicles or those unfamiliar with desert terrain.
