Trail Overview
This off-road route begins along the crossover loop near the road from Las Positas to La Soledad and is best tackled with a 4WD vehicle, as several deep silt pits and uneven terrain demand traction and clearance. Though often described as a sandy route, it's equally rocky, with stretches of deep, loose silt that can easily trap underprepared vehicles. After an easy start, the trail runs tightly along a fence line before opening into a rugged section where the surface alternates between rock and soft sand, offering occasional chances to break off the main track for smoother desert paths. As the landscape opens up, silt traps become more frequent, especially along a main route heavily marked by past racing activity. A few sharp dips into small arroyos require solid ground clearance and a good departure angle to avoid bumper damage on embedded rocks. The second half of the trail becomes more manageable, with the worst of the silt behind you. The final stretch alternates between faster, smoother sections and rocky patches, some with alternate lines, before intersecting with the road from Kilometer 128 to San Evaristo.

Difficulty
This route is not particularly difficult overall, but it does present a few challenges to be aware of. Several deep silt sections may require 4WD, especially if you lose momentum and come to a stop--though multiple line options allow for smarter route choices that can make the crossing easier. The only other notable obstacles are a few short, steep dips where a slow and careful approach is recommended. With decent clearance and four-wheel-drive engaged when needed, most vehicles will be able to navigate the trail without issue.
