Trail Overview
This route begins by taking Sixth Avenue off Highway 1 through Centenario to the trailhead. The initial mile passes through the outskirts of town and may appear unkempt. Still, the scenery soon improves, offering several excellent campsites and beautiful views of La Paz and the ocean. The trail starts as a well-traveled, packed dirt road but becomes increasingly challenging as you gain altitude, with patches of deep sand and remnants of Baja racing tracks. Some sandy sections feature large, 24-inch whoops and rutted corners, demanding a high-clearance 4WD vehicle. Further along, the trail ascends into rocky, off-camber terrain, requiring a modified high-clearance 4WD and an experienced driver to navigate the tricky wheel placements. After passing a ranch, the trail levels out, becoming more manageable, and concludes at a gate. While the gate is open, it's often closed and must be reopened and secured behind you.

Difficulty
The lower sections of the trail are straightforward and easy to navigate, but as you climb higher, the sand becomes significantly deeper in places. One particularly challenging section features a steep, off-camber incline with a mix of loose and slab rocks. Navigating this stretch requires a capable vehicle, an experienced driver, and precise wheel placement to safely make it through. The trail also includes a few steep sections featuring 2-foot whoops and deeply rutted corners, adding to the challenge.
