Casa Diablo Mine Cutoff, also called FS 04S04, drops 600 feet over six miles. This mostly sandy trail does have various rocky sections and ruts to handle. Use caution as they come out of nowhere. The trail alternates between pine forest and open meadow with breathtakingly views of the Eastern Sierras.

Difficulty

Most of the trail is a 1 or 2, but there are a few sections with deep ruts and another with a drop-off that makes it a level three rail.

History

Hike or climb at Casa Diablo Mountain, drive through Childago Canyon (the Red Canyon), and climb at Benton Crags.
