Trail Overview

This seldom-traveled trail begins from the paved road Kikomun-Newgate Road. Look for the Gold Creek Rec Site, which is a free camping area located on both sides of the creek. It is equipped with picnic tables and a pit toilet. It's a nice area to camp with plenty of spots to lay your claim in the shade and play in the water. Beyond the camping area, the trail progressively gets narrower, with many downed smaller trees and others encroaching over the trail. There are some deep muddy spots, and the very end of the trail is dug out. Barricades for a side route are near the top of the trail. But this trail does connect to the trail system above in the mountains. This trail generally appears to be seldom traveled. All the good camping is near the bottom of the steep hill at the end of the trail. There are better trails than this one in the area, but if you're camped at Gold Creek, it is an access point to the trails above. You just may need to be prepared to clear trees. There is no cell service. To ensure you have consistent map coverage, please download your offline maps before exploring the area. Crown Land Camping: Canadian Crown land is open to Canadian residents for free camping. Out-of-country visitors, particularly from the US, will need to obtain a camping permit from the nearest FrontCounter BC office in Cranbrook before camping on Crown land if camping outside of the paid campsite.
