Trail Overview
Carmanah Main is a very wide, graded gravel route that closely follows a power line corridor through a heavily vegetated landscape. With tall trees and thick brush lining much of the trail, the road offers a green, wooded atmosphere even as it travels beneath open sky. The surface is generally well-maintained but not without its rough patches -- expect scattered small potholes and sections of washboarding that may require reduced speeds for comfort. Due to its open design and dry conditions, the trail can become very dusty when other vehicles are present, so spacing out is recommended when traveling in a group. While the utility corridor keeps the trail relatively straight and open, the natural surroundings still offer a pleasant visual contrast between industrial infrastructure and the encroaching forest.

Difficulty
This road is easily passable for all high-clearance and even many standard vehicles. Minimal technical challenges make it a great access route, utility corridor, or connection between more remote trails. Be prepared for dust and light vibration from washboards.
