Summit - FS 5S009

Trail Overview

An easy, two-lane forest service road that efficiently climbs out of the Fish Camp area and connects to the high-country Chowchilla Mtn Road network. The surface is a mixed bag of graded dirt, loose gravel, and rough sections of broken, old pavement (visible in photos), requiring careful navigation. The road passes through a dense, healthy forest canopy.

Difficulty

This road is accessible to most passenger vehicles (when dry), but the frequent change in surface (ungraded dirt to broken pavement) requires a high clearance vehicle with good tires for comfort and to avoid damaging tires. It is a scenic and straightforward climb.
