Trail Overview
This trail encompasses shelf roads, loose rock, off-camber sections, and smooth trails. Depending on the season, there will be snow and, more dangerously, slick trails to a fire lookout tower. This route covers a classic off-road journey in the Naches Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Washington. It takes you from the popular Tripod Flat area south to the spectacular Raven Roost overlook.

Difficulty
This is a high-elevation trek known for its technical "tight" sections. The Tripod Flat section is notorious for narrow passes between trees (body damage risk) and rock gardens. The initial sections of the 4W674 (Tripod Flat Trail) are characterized by dense evergreen forests and "The Squeeze"--narrow gaps between old-growth trees that will test the mirrors and fenders of full-size rigs. You'll encounter roots, moderate rock steps, and potentially deep mud holes if it has rained recently. The final push to the end point involves a steep, winding climb up to the summit of Raven's Roost. This area is home to several communication towers, but the real draw is the ridge-line drive. The road can be bumpy and washboarded, but it is generally less technical than the lower trails, making it a "reward" section after the earlier technical work. The route ends at the Raven Roost Overlook. On a clear day, the view of Mount Rainier is massive and dominates the western horizon. You can also see the Crow Creek drainage and the central Cascades stretching out to the south.
