Trail Overview

Three Peaks Pass is a 2.3-mile point-to-point trail rated 3 of 10 located in Piute County. This narrow winding hard-packed dirt trail runs between a series of 7000-plus-foot peaks, the two prominent being Flattop and Monroe Mountain. The trail passes dozens of old mine sites, many of which are still visible today. The trail is an unimproved dirt track with embedded rock in places. There are no significant obstacles along the track. The track is single vehicle-width wide, and there is scrub brush growing along the center line, so be conscious of where you stop the vehicle. Many of the trails in the area have been reopened to motorized travel over the last decade. This trail, as well as many of the connecting trails, is now well used and open for travel. There are several scenic views along this trail of the Fish Lake National Forest, both to the east and the west. As the trail transits through the area, it will cross multiple sandstone scree fields, which seem to have been formed before the trail was made. It presents an interesting contrast to the rugged scrub brush-covered slopes. Cell phone service is intermittent on the trail. The nearest services are in Joseph and Monroe to the north and Marysvale to the south.
