Trail Overview

Hog Canyon (HC) 4 has been divided at the White Pinnacles because of the significant difference in difficulty with the trail east of the White Pinnacles. Entering from the west entrance, you will drop down into a valley on a trail with multiple rock obstacles. While challenging for the experienced rider, this should not be a major obstacle with a high clearance 4WD offroad vehicle. Attention is required on this trail as there have been two deaths in this section. The White Pinnacles are beautiful and unique, with surrounding views of the area. Planning a lunch here is a good option as there is a picnic table. Before proceeding east on this trail, please read the description of HC4 East. The trail east of here is very different and much more difficult. Please Note: HC is a set of defined trails, AKA a trail park. These defined trails vary in difficulty to provide challenges for all types of vehicles and skill levels. It is also a great area to learn new skills on these trails. HC is NOT an open-riding area. You are expected to stay on the defined trails and, under no circumstances, create new trails. In addition, please do not build upon someone else's desecration of the area by riding on trails or bypasses that have been created by others. Please obey all BLM-posted signs. OnX asks everyone to support the Tread Lightly principles.

Difficulty

The large rock ledges and flat rock areas provide obstacles that, if not traversed correctly, can put your vehicle in precarious situations. Caution should be experienced when on some of the wider flat rock sections as they can visually appear flat but when traversing they are actually off-camber. Picking the correct line on the obstacles is important to successfully navigating this trail. A higher clearance vehicle is valuable on this trail.
