Trail Overview

Swing Arm City is a 7.8-mile point-to-point trail rated 3 of 10 located in the Caineville Free Ride Area of Wayne County. Swingarm City OHV area in Caineville, UT, is an open OHV playground unique in the United States. Although the Caineville recreational area is a free-riding area, this is a well-defined route through the area. The soil is made up of Bentonite clay, and the surface gets a crust that offers a different grip. This clay surface has a blue-gray color, so think of something between sand dunes and rich loamy soil. One major advantage of this area is that, because of the bentonite clay, this area can be less dusty than other off-roading areas. The area within the boundary confines is open to all types of motorized vehicles, offering everything from dirt track to ridge running and freeride jumping. The area has terrain for everything from easy to extreme. The Swing Arm City offers a well-used track that is easy to follow and runs through, offering an initial look at the area and allowing drivers to pick their spots for investigation. The track can be run in either direction, with the south end starting on State Route 24 and the east end at the OHV trailer parking lot on Factory Butte Road. This area can get extremely hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. As dry and barren as it appears, the annual average rainfall is about 6 inches, and winter snowfall is about 8 inches. There is a restroom at the staging area on Factory Butte Road. Cell phone service is intermittent. The nearest services are in Hanksville, about 12 miles east on SR24.
