Trail Overview
This wash runs parallel to the Backdoor to Babylon Trail, and it's a good option in places where the Backdoor is eroded enough that the off-camber might cause a rollover. Just drop into the wash and pass the eroded area, then get back on the Backdoor Trail. Or you can take the wash all the way for a completely different look at this area of the Red Cliffs Rec Area. We tracked just over a mile in the wash. It is wide enough for our 72" CanAm, however, some of the corners are tight. It's a sandy wash in most places, with obstacles that are less than 2 feet high. If it's raining, or there is water in the wash, it's not a good option. And heavy rains may further erode the trail or move rocks and other debris into the path. We rode it in mid-February, and it was dry and a lot of fun. This Red Cliffs Recreation Area has a lot of trails to explore both in your SXS or on foot, and whether you like the sandy washes like this trail, rock formations to climb, or high desert trails with whoops, you can find it out here. There are some great hikes to Sand Cove, to the Old Toquerville Mine, to Sandstone Mountain, and to the Arch. You can ride to the river and fish or swim or wade. Bring extra fuel, the nearest stations are in Leeds or Toquerville. Bring your lunch and your camera and your hiking poles. To find this trail, from Leeds or Toquerville, you take North Old Highway 91, which is the frontage road along the interstate. You take it to the Red Cliffs Rec Area to Virgin River Trail. Follow that trail down to the Backdoor to Babylon Trail, and turn left. From there, you can find either end of this wash. Starting Feb 2023, Utah began enforcement of its new law, which requires an online education course for all off-roaders. The free course is available online. Google "Utah OHV Education Course," and the free test will pop up. It's an easy test that will only take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Kids under the age of 18 will have to take the Youth Education Test at the same site. After completing the test, print out the certificate to carry with you which shows you completed the course. We have taken it, and it's really no big deal. Good reminders about trail etiquette and trail preservation.

Difficulty
The wash is easy to maneuver. There are some obstacles and tight corners. Be sure to watch for other traffic. If there is running water in the wash, avoid it. Flash floods during heavy rains are possible.
