Trail Overview
Part of the Laurel Hill Wildlife Management Area Trail System. Drivers must possess a valid annual Hunt/Fish license, available online. Access is open year-round and restricted to daylight hours only (closed dusk to dawn). -- Peter Cave Rd. is a short access spur that provides direct entry to the western shoreline of Laurel Hill Lake. While brief in length, it serves as one of the most convenient drive-in access points to the lake within the WMA. -- This route begins paved and quickly transitions to gravel as it descends toward Laurel Hill Lake. The road is well-maintained and suitable for any street-legal vehicle, making it an easy addition to a broader route through the WMA or a quick standalone stop. The road meanders along the lake shore, often right up beside the water. The end is a loop that circles back the way you came. There is no through-road to other trails in the system. One of the easiest drive-up access points to the lake within the WMA. Ideal for casting a line, relaxing, or a quick picnic stop -- Scenic Shoreline - Calm water, tree-lined banks, and strong seasonal color make this a quiet, photogenic spot. Designated Access Area - Clearly signed with maintained parking and shoreline approach -- Day-use area only; observe posted lake hours. Expect pedestrian activity from anglers and visitors. Best suited as a stop or destination rather than a through-route. Motorized use within Laurel Hill WMA is permitted for street-legal vehicles only. Users must possess either a valid Tennessee hunting/fishing license or a High Impact Habitat Conservation Permit to access the WMA. To operate Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs), ride hooved animals, or use Class 3 e-bikes on designated WMA trails, a High Impact Habitat Conservation Permit is required. This permit is available daily or annually for residents and non-residents, with exemptions for youth under 13 or individuals holding valid hunting or WMA permits. Fishing requires users to sign in at the office.
