Trail Overview
FS 233, also known as Black Fox Camp Road, is a scenic gravel road that winds through the heart of a lush, narrow valley west of Rochford. It follows the creek most of the way and is lined with willows, spruce, and open meadow, giving it a high-country alpine feel without needing to climb. The road is generally well-graded and passable for most vehicles, though it can get washboarded and a little soft after heavy rain. Dispersed camping is excellent here--especially near the old Black Fox Camp and farther down the drainage where you'll find flat ground, shade, and access to water. It's a quiet corridor with light traffic, but don't be surprised to see a few rigs tucked in for trout fishing or early-season elk scouting. One of the more peaceful stretches in the western Hills. Pack in, pack out, leave no trace, and tread lightly.
