The Chowan Swamp Gamelands are a state-administered game area in Gates County, North Carolina. The trail system is seasonal, and one can expect various areas to be open or closed depending on what hunting season it is. The area offers excellent fishing along the Chowan River, along with scenic areas to picnic. There is one designated camping area, but it's not particularly scenic or impressive.

Easy forest trails that are sand, dirt and gravel. You can do this trail in pretty much anything. Great little ride to look around at nature but there were hunters with hounds when I first pulled in. Some offshoots are not shown but can be driven down. Most end in dead ends or posted signs, so watch where you are going.
