Trail Overview
Can be done in either direction. If done counterclockwise, the route starts in a wash. Towards the head of the wash, it gets narrower and rockier. There are some 24-inch ledges and large rocks. A short, steep climb brings you up on top of a mesa. The mesa top portion of the trail traverses several narrow, steep arroyos. These could be a challenge if your departure angle is not good. After 11.5 miles, you hit a county road. It's mostly a smooth, easy dirt road from here back to pavement. You will finish not too far from Sparky's Burgers in Hatch. Green chili cheeseburger time! Of course, that's all in reverse if going clockwise. Check the forecast, especially in the summer. You don't want to be caught in the wash in a thunderstorm.

Difficulty
Most of the trail is very easy. The head of the wash has some 24-inch ledges and large rocks. The climb out is short but steep. Some of the arroyo crossings on the mesa could hang up your rear bumper if the departure angle is inadequate.
