Trail Overview
Reptile is an intermediate trail that only has a few moderate obstacles that are actually required to get through the route and mostly winds around in a play area full of much more difficult obstacles, some that would only be ideal for built rigs only. The actual route has a lot of loose dirt hills that go up and down next to the rock formations, winding up and down the mesa. One of the required obstacles is a straight-up 3-foot ledge that is pretty blunt and vertical. One is a rock face that is a bit diagonal, so you'll need a spotter to get your approach angle right. It goes over uneven slickrock layers and through a shallow ravine. You can pick which of the extreme obstacles you want to try while you follow the route. Near the middle of the trail, there is actually a big camp spot with a mega firepit at the bottom of the rock ledges where you can stage and watch the action. Some of the bigger optional ledges are extremely vertical and off-camber, with big drop-offs, and risk of high centering. On a lot of the ledges, you'll have to commit and trust your tires. There's an optional vertical ~4-foot ledge that has been dug out at the bottom, which will make it very difficult to do from a dig. Near the middle of the trail is the optional Corona Rock, which is an extremely tall and steep rock face rated a 9.

Difficulty
While the main route is a 6 difficulty with a couple of moderate rock ledges, this trail accesses a lot of optional extreme obstacles that are a 9-10 difficulty. This trail is a 6 per the BLM, meaning you'll encounter 20-degree grades, 35" tires, and a minimum of 1 locker (front of rear) is recommended. Stock vehicles will likely need multiple attempts, and wider vehicles need to take caution. Trail recovery gear is also recommended.
