The Northwest Nellis Smashed Beetle Point trail takes you along the northwestern boundary of the Nellis OHV area, providing a captivating journey that skirts the base of the surrounding mountains. As you navigate this route, you'll experience a series of loose and rocky climbs and descents, making for a rollercoaster-like adventure. The trail features long sections of deep whoops, steep hill climbs, and exhilarating descents that promise to engage your driving skills. Along the way, you'll encounter fun rock shelves and boulder sections that add character to the route and a few challenging off-camber transitions that further enhance the experience. At the trail's western end, you'll find an old yellow Volkswagen Beetle, a relic of the past that has seen better days--smashed in and riddled with bullet holes from years of use as a target, adding an interesting anecdote to your journey.Important Note: Be advised that cellular service can be almost nonexistent on the eastern end of this trail, while you can expect full 5G coverage on the western side. It's essential to download your offline maps before heading out to ensure you stay on track. As always, be prepared for the desert by bringing plenty of water and supplies, as conditions can change quickly in this rugged terrain.
