Warning for those towing a camper or trailer: This trial starts or ends at Whitetail Campground. This is a very popular campground. There are several very steep ascents and descents with very deep and soft sand. There are also areas where the tail is very narrow with sloping berms on both sides. These also have very deep and soft sand. It would be problematic to get a camper of a trailer through this trail. The trail has a mixture of very deep and soft sand with a few areas being sparse tree lined with medium-packed sand. There are also areas of where the sand dunes are sloped and will put you at slight off-camber angles. There are several very steep climbs and descents. Some of these climbs are on very narrow paths with sloped sand dunes on both sides of the trail. The trail also has washouts and ruts, they are minor but could fill with water after rainfall. The trail opens up in numerous areas offering great views of the surrounding sand dunes and prairies. The trail has narrow areas where passing will not be possible but it does open up in numerous spots to allow for passing. There are areas to disperse camp.
