Trail Overview

Piquett Ridge Trail is another trail that starts from the Piquett Creek Trail off of West Fork Rd. Piquett Ridge starts about two miles up Piquett Creek Trail. This trail is an easy drive/ride and has some great views of the surrounding mountains near Trapper Peak as well as parts of the West Fork valley. The trail does have some potholes, ruts, and rocks, but none of these are very big. The rocks are no bigger than 8 inches in diameter, and most are well under that size. The surface of this trail is a fairly even mix of gravel and dirt sections and is slightly rougher than other trails in the area. After a heavy rain or snowmelt, parts of this trail can get muddy and rut out pretty quickly. There are some turns and switchbacks, but the majority of them aren't very tight. There are parts of this trail that have a pretty good drop-off off the side of the trail. The width of the trail, however, is mostly two vehicles wide, so there is plenty of room to maneuver for the most part. The beginning of the trail is a bit narrower than the rest. This trail is a steady climb nearly the entire way, but nothing too excessively steep by any means. This is an in-and-out trail as it comes to a dead end. If you are on a dirt bike, there is a trail near the end of the Piquett Ridge Trail that you can continue. The last couple hundred yards of this trail are a little bit off-camber, and the turnaround is fairly tight.

Difficulty

The trail contains potholes, ruts, and rocks. However, nothing is very large, and most vehicles shouldn't have a problem driving this trail. The majority of the width of the trail is two vehicles wide, but some short sections are narrower. The trail can get muddy after snowmelt or rain, so best to have a 4x4. Some good-sized drops off the side of the trail exist. Other than the last few hundred yards, the trail is not off-camber at all.
