Trail Overview
This Primitive Road is a fun way to cross the large expanse in the middle of the Graverlly Range and see the wide variety of different environments in this ecologically diverse area. There are rocky areas, wet areas from nearby springs, and open and tree-covered areas. There is nothing extremely difficult on this road, but care must be taken in the wet areas as these can be exacerbated by recent rains or snow runoff. This is probably not a trail to take if there has been recent rainfall. That taken into consideration, the trail provides some beautiful vistas and the potential to see wildlife. The trail does dead end, and you are required to backtrack to another trail to exit the area.

Difficulty
This trail was rated a 4 because of the springs and the variety of flows that can occur based on recent precipitation and runoff. To save the environment, it is recommended that this trail be avoided if there has been recent rainfall. While the wet area is relatively short, there are obstacles that could result in leaving large, deep ruts. Care in these areas should be taken. The FS has placed a small wooden structure at the end of the trail. This is easily recognized as the trail becomes washed out, and going forward could result in a rollover off the mountain. We found the wooden structure about 6 feet off the trail. Please honor the FS closures. Note: This area is closed for elk calving until late July.
