Trail Overview

This long trail requires a permit for access and is rated a three due to its rugged, technical nature. The route is rocky and uneven, with steep climbs and descents that make for a slow but rewarding drive. It is especially popular with ATV and side-by-side riders looking for a more adventurous outing. Several steep ledges and sandy sections add to the challenge, and the trail climbs steadily from low scrub to denser forest. Along the way, several clearings could be suitable for dispersed camping, though none are formally designated. At one point, the trail splits, and a sign warns of heavy truck traffic. However, the route beyond the sign is narrow and technical, making it unlikely to support large vehicles. The trail continues in a long loop and eventually reaches a clearing where the surface begins to improve. Near the end, there is a small, rustic forest cabin that appears to be used seasonally, possibly by a local hunter. Although the trail offers opportunities for exploration and solitude, it does not include any formal campgrounds or services. There are no trash facilities or access to potable water, and cell phone reception may be unreliable throughout much of the route.
