Trail Overview
This trail offers a relatively easy ride with one notable exception, a slightly steep hill climb that can become challenging when wet due to its dirt base. Proper tire grip and momentum are important here, especially in slippery conditions. The trail weaves through a wooded section, with tree branches and overgrowth brushing close to the sides, which means pinstriping is likely for wider or full-bodied rigs. One side of the trail runs along a narrow shelf road with a steep drop-off, so extra caution is advised when navigating those sections. This route eventually leads to the upper entrance of Break the Bank trail.

Difficulty
This mostly easy trail has a dirt hill climb that gets slick when wet and runs along a shelf road, so caution is needed. Trees may cause pinstriping. Suitable for most 4WD vehicles with moderate clearance.
History
The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
