Trail Overview
Mud Creek (FS 324) begins as a narrow two-track route with a rough surface. The trail is rocky and uneven, featuring moderate ascents and descents along with off-camber sections and signs of water erosion in places. It winds through a forested area that, in July, is filled with wildflowers and berry bushes, adding seasonal color to the route. Vegetation encroaches on the trail in several sections, requiring slow, careful driving. Partway along, the trail reaches an uneven clearing that is sometimes used for parking, particularly by those accessing a nearby ATV trail. This area may also serve as a dispersed campsite, though the ground is far from level. Beyond this point, the trail becomes increasingly overgrown but eventually opens up into another small clearing that can be used for camping, turning around, or staging. There are no formal campsites along the trail, and it lacks services such as potable water or trash disposal. Cell phone reception may be unreliable.
