Trail Overview

This trail is accessed from Highway 1 and begins as a wide, well-maintained gravel road that leads toward Birch Lake campsite. Despite the good condition of the initial stretch, the surface is marked by frequent corrugations and potholes that can make for a bumpy ride. As the trail progresses, it diverts from the Birch Lake trail that heads around a curve to the left. The trail narrows into a rough two-track with significant water damage, including deep dips, large puddles, and scattered fallen trees. Overgrowth encroaches on both sides of the trail, and drivers should expect some pinstriping from branches and brush. A few pull-off areas are available along the way, offering limited space to turn around or pause. Although the trail is shown on some maps as connecting to an ATV route, it ultimately dead-ends at a small clearing where further travel is blocked. There are no formal or dispersed campsites along the trail, and no facilities such as trash bins or potable water. Cell service may also be limited or unavailable.

Difficulty

The trail is maintained but can develop light overgrowth between trims, especially in the summer months. Commonly used by local OHV traffic, the path remains visible and passable, though branches and low brush may occasionally encroach. All vehicle types are permitted after the intersection with Birch Lake Campground.
