Trail Overview

This trail, which forms part of the Prospectors Trail network, is accessed from Tomahawk Trail and offers a long, scenic route through pine forest. It is minimally maintained, with fallen trees cleared from the path but no other grooming or surface work done. The trail is narrow and often overgrown, making it better suited to compact 4WD vehicles, side-by-sides, and ATVs rather than full-size trucks or campers. The route is rocky and uneven, with several off-camber sections and moderate ascents and descents. Large puddles and wet areas are common, especially after rainfall, so drivers should be prepared for water crossings and mud. As the trail winds through the forest, it passes a number of junctions with smaller side trails. Several clearings along the route appear suitable for dispersed camping, though there are no developed sites or facilities. Camping is not formally provided along this route. Still, dispersed camping is typically allowed throughout the Superior National Forest, as long as it is outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
