Trail Overview
This trail begins with numerous painted markings on trees, a clear indication that it is primarily used for logging. Additional signs of ongoing or recent logging activity include parallel scrapes on exposed rocks, likely caused by road-clearing equipment. The trail itself is primarily composed of gravel and remains relatively wide throughout, although the surface is bumpy in certain sections. It winds through forested terrain with a series of gentle ascents and descents, and sharp branches occasionally protrude into the trail corridor, requiring some caution when driving. Along the route, several clearings are visible where logging has occurred. At the end of the trail, a larger open area is available that may be suitable for dispersed camping. However, access is restricted beyond this point by an A-frame barricade with a sign reading "Closed for Administrative Use Only." During our visit, a park ranger confirmed that the area is undergoing reforestation. At the trail's end, a narrow, unmapped path also disappears into the surrounding woods, although its status and accessibility are unclear. There are no formal campsites or developed amenities along this trail. Visitors should not expect access to toilets, trash bins, or potable water, and cell reception may be unreliable or entirely absent.

History
Superior National Forest, established in 1909, covers over 3 million acres of rugged boreal forest in northeastern Minnesota. While much of the forest is protected wilderness, designated areas offer incredible OHV and multi-use trail opportunities, especially outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Historic logging roads and old mining routes now serve as access points for trail riders, offering a mix of forested paths, rocky sections, and scenic overlooks across the Iron Range and beyond.
